Beginning to make the book.

I made a few origami pieces for my book.
Measuring the paper.

 Midway through the process.
Seagull, because theres always one in my garden.
Fish and crab because I live beside the sea and my uncles are fishermen.

Flower because I have a garden full of them.

Church because I go to mass every week, and it's important to me.
And home, the theme of my project.

Change of plan. Slightly.

I've decided to change the layout of the book. Imagining the way I was going to have it was boring me. I was trying to think if I was going to be viewing it it as an outsider, would I like it? No. So, I was browsing through different origami and found these.

At first I though it was cut out, but it's actually folded. I like how its jumping out from the book. I then got the idea for my book to be like a pop up book, having all of the pieces of origami on 2 pages, like its coming out of the book. Visually, this seems a better idea than before. I will make the origami and then figure out how I am making the book.

examples

There is a website which has a lot of different origami diagrams and tutorials. They have a wide variety of objects so I went through them and picked out what connects to home, and which I will be able to make.

Deciding on a theme.

So, we figured out that I didn't have a concrete theme to my book. I didn't want to change my idea because I still wanted to work with origami. So, I though of the thing that means the most to me - home.
I live beside the sea in a small village, so I decided to incorporate that into my book. A few ideas for the book are: boat, fish, cow, tulip, house, crab, church, music note. I intend to make these. My idea for the book is to have the name of the object in Japanese, English and Irish on one page, and have a drawing of the real life object on the opposite page. I would like for it to be interactive, where people can turn the pages and see which origami fits the page. The origami would be laid out around the book. I am more confident in what i'm doing now, and am happier with it.
